A Refugee Center for Afghan Women and Children

Situated in Portland, Oregon, ‘Embracing Hope’ serves as a sanctuary of solace and renewal for women and children from Afghanistan who have been deeply affected by the ravages of the war. This refugee provides them with safety, equality, acceptance, and comfort.

Rooted in the concept of ‘Waking Doves of Hazrat Ali Mazar,’ the design intends to infuse each day with positivity and warmth. Afghan ornamentation, Islamic geometric patterns, and natural materials come together to create a harmonious environment. The color palette echoes this harmony, blending complementary shades with lively accents. ‘Embracing Hope’ transcends the role of a building; it’s a space that promises a bright tomorrow and seamless integration into the local community.
